The Home Ministry has annulled the Registrar of Societies' decision in 2019 to deregister MyPPP.
In a statement yesterday, MyPPP president Maglin Dennis D'cruz said his party was notified of the matter by the Home Ministry on April 11.
He claimed that the ROS also recognised the validity of the MyPPP supreme council elected on March 19, this year.
"This latest development marks the end of the leadership crisis that has plagued MyPPP, which has lasted for almost five years," said Maglin.
MyPPP was deregistered in 2018 after two factions claimed to be the legitimate leaders of the party.
One faction was led by M Kayveas while D'cruz (above) led the other.
Kayveas had led the party for two decades, helping secure the party's return to both houses of Parliament in 2004.
In 2018, just weeks before the general election, Kayveas suddenly resigned as party president and only withdrew his resignation letter a few days later.
This resulted in a situation whereby both Kayveas and Maglin claimed to be the MyPPP president. At the time, Kayveas' faction was adamant about leaving BN while Maglin's faction was not.
As of today, MyPPP is not part of the BN coalition.
MyPPP is the successor of the People's Progressive Party (PPP), which was once a powerful Ipoh-based political party. - Mkini
