PETALING JAYA: The National Registration Department (JPN) is helping the Public Services Commission (SPA) to verify the information of those applying for positions in the public service.

JPN said it had been doing so using its myIDENTITY system developed in 2012.

Yesterday, a news portal reported that SPA had tracked and blocked over 46,000 people, including foreigners and those using false identities, to apply for public service posts since 2020.

They were among the 2.2 million who applied for jobs during the period.

In a statement today, JPN said their system was able to verify whether the applicants were Malaysians as this is a standard requirement to land jobs in the civil service.

“JPN also provides the myIDENTITY system facility to government agencies for the purpose of sharing basic individual data,” it said in a statement.

So far, 51 agencies have been granted access. - FMT
