PETALING JAYA: Tabung Haji has announced a profit distribution of 3.1% for 2022, the same rate as in the previous two years.
This brings TH’s full-year distribution to RM2.65 billion compared with RM2.46 billion in 2021, religious affairs minister Na’im Mokhtar said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.
Na’im also said the pilgrim fund recorded a gross income of RM3.85 billion in 2022 compared with RM3.75 billion in 2021.
Earlier this month, Na’im told the Dewan Negara that TH is expected to announce its profit distribution in the early part of the second quarter of 2023 after its financial statements for the year ended Dec 31, 2022 (FY2022) were audited.
He said this was in view of a Royal Commission of Inquiry’s (RCI) preliminary feedback and recommendations for TH to announce its profit distribution based on audited financial statements.
TH chairman Azman Mokhtar said the fund had taken a more cautious investment approach to address market uncertainties last year.
“This effort has paid off in the form of sustainable income generation to ensure a reasonable distribution rate for the financial year 2022,” he said.
TH has also allocated RM97 million in zakat for distribution to all state religious councils on behalf of depositors, bringing the accumulated zakat payment to RM1.27 billion.
Depositors will be able to check the amount of profit distribution credited to their accounts from 12pm tomorrow through the THiJARI platform, TH branches, Bank Islam and Bank Rakyat branches as well as through the online platforms of partner banks. - FMT
