We remain PH’s steadfast friend despite criticisms, says Muda

PETALING JAYA: Despite claims that it will not bring any added value if accepted into Pakatan Harapan (PH), youth party Muda says it will continue to be a “loyal friend” to the coalition.

In his reply to the criticisms laid out against them, Selangor deputy information chief Ernest Tan Yong reminded his state PKR counterpart Fauzi Fadzil of Muda’s unwavering support for the unity government, despite not being offered any position.

“It is very disappointing if someone claims Muda brings no added value or that we are just riding on PH’s popularity. Muda will continue our struggle to deliver our political service, political value and political policies in developing Malaysia.

“A significant number of our leaders are youths who are on the frontline fighting for issues concerning university students and the youth and we are also vocal when it comes to public issues,” he said in a statement today.

Tan said since Muda had applied to join PH before the last general election, it was now up to the coalition whether to accept the party’s application.

Earlier, Selangor PKR deputy information chief Fauzi had issued a statement reprimanding Muda for the incessant pressure it had mounted on PH to decide on whether to accept its application to join the coalition.

PKR Youth chief Adam Adli had said discussions about Muda’s entry into the coalition were delayed as there were more important matters in need of attention.

Muda had applied to join PH in September and the party had been asking the coalition to make a decision.

Party president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was recently reported as saying that the party had submitted three letters to PH, seeking an update on the progress of its application. - FMT
