Dr Mahathir Mohamad appeared to have finally buried the hatchet with fellow Bersatu co-founder Muhyiddin Yassin.
Muhyiddin visited Mahathir at the latter's home in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, last night and spent nearly two hours there.
Details of the visit were shared by Khairuddin Abu Hassan in his capacity as the chairperson of the Malay Proclamation Secretariat.
"The meeting between the two Malay leaders (showed they are) willing to put aside their political differences to take part in the struggle to solidify the position of bumiputera in this country, (and this) should be commended.
"Their efforts will be an impetus for Malays who are starving for absolute Malay unity," Khairuddin said in a statement today.
This is the second key figure in the Sheraton Move to have visited Mahathir over the past week after Azmin Ali.
Mahathir had repeatedly described Muhyiddin as a "traitor" or "betrayer" over the latter's role in ousting the Pakatan Harapan government in February 2020.
Just before the parliamentary elections last November, Mahathir called Muhyiddin a "traitor" for the latter's role in the Sheraton Move.
After the events of the Sheraton Move, Mahathir formed a new party called Pejuang but was vanquished during the parliamentary elections.
Now, his main platform is the Malay Proclamation, a movement which he hopes will unite Malays politically.
In recent months, the former premier appeared to have softened his stance regarding Muhyiddin and the latter's Perikatan Nasional coalition. - Mkini
