Former BN secretary-general Annuar Musa has assured that he and his son Afiq Amani will not face each other during the upcoming Kelantan legislative assembly elections.
"There are no 'ifs'. That (contest) will not happen. My son is my strongest supporter," said Annuar (above, left) in Bachok, Kelantan, last night.
Afiq Amani is the Ketereh Umno Youth division chief and is widely tipped as the BN candidate for Kok Lanas - a seat once held by his father.
On the other hand, Annuar, who joined PAS last month, was speculated to be eyeing either Kok Lanas, Melor, or Kadok.
Previously, PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin had confirmed that Annuar's candidacy was being considered.
Annuar, 67, told reporters last night that he would prefer to make way for more experienced PAS leaders.
‘PAS is different’
"I'm still new to the party. I should make way for others. If I can't be a candidate, it’s not a problem. Let the leaders decide.
"PAS is different from Umno. They have their own procedures - vetting by the Syura Council followed by the state leadership.
"I have been a candidate many times before. If others do it, it's ok. If I am chosen by the party, then I will consider it," said the former minister. - Mkini
