Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz said he will still back PAS regardless of whether his party nominates him as a candidate for the Kelantan legislative assembly election.
"Let the leadership decide. What's important is that I remain steadfast (in God) and I will be with PAS activists during the upcoming campaign.
"I must accept the party's (decision) as an ordinary member," he told reporters after a ceramah in Bachok, Kelantan, last night.
Nik Abduh (above), the son of the late PAS spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, was once a rising star in the party and a two-term MP.
However, he suffered a shock defeat during the party's leadership election in 2021, where he failed to retain his seat in the party's central committee.
Following this, his party did not field him as a candidate for the parliamentary elections last November.
Islamic struggle
So far, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had kept mum on whether Nik Abduh would be fielded during the upcoming state elections on Aug 12.
When asked if Nik Abdul Aziz's legacy would be affected if his sons were not nominated by PAS during the upcoming election, Nik Abduh replied in the negative.
"Tok Guru's legacy is not about becoming candidates, but about the Islamic struggle and defending the Kelantan government," he said. - Mkini
