MACC chief disagrees with providing bus service for voters

MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said he disagrees with the suggestion that parties prepare buses for voters during polling day because it could raise suspicion.

This is in response to the Kelantan government announcing a bus initiative for students during the state election period.

“I would advise against it.

“Because… in the bus, ‘that’ could happen too. We don’t know the situation,” Azam said as reported by FMT.

He urged the public to imagine if all the parties involved in the election started providing such services.

“Let us not be a corrupt community where our thoughts have become corrupt. When we are corrupt, we will choose a corrupt leader,” he said.

Azam also pointed out there are many who easily lodge complaints nowadays and any election victory can be cancelled if there is evidence of wrongdoing.

Polling day for the six state elections is set for Aug 12. - Mkini
