Dr M publishes list of 114 MPs, hopes Agong will accept

Interim Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has published a list of 114 MPs that are supporting him.
Mahathir (above) says he has written a letter and sent it to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.
"I hope the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong will accept my letter and explanation," he said.
Among the notable signees are Keningau MP Jeffrey Kitingan and Richard Riot (Serian) who are listed under PKR, Gabungan Bersatu Sabah's Maximus Ongkili (Kota Marudu), independents Baru Bian (Selangau), Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), and Masir Kujat (Sri Aman).

The full list is as follows.
Mahathir says the support was manifested through statutory declarations, as well as official letters from party leaders.
The list also includes six Bersatu MPs namely Mahathir (Langkawi), Jerlun MP Mukhriz Mahathir, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Muar), Maszlee Malik (Simpang Renggam), Eddin Syazlee Shith (Kuala Pilah), and Amiruddin Hamzah (Kubang Pasu).
He says with these six, the number of Bersatu MPs presented to the King supporting Muhyiddin Yassin is not accurate.
However, Maszlee and Eddin Syazlee's loyalties are unclear.
Maszlee had this evening declared support for Mahathir.
However, three hours later, he said he was grateful that Muhyiddin had been appointed, and that he honoured the King's decision.
"As a responsible party member and good citizen who wants the best for the people, I welcome and honour the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong's decree assenting to appoint Muhyiddin as prime minister.
"I pray that Malaysia remains peaceful and continues to move forward," he said in a statement.
The statement which was posted on Facebook, has since been deleted.
Meanwhile, Eddin Syazlee (above) was reported to be en route to meet Mahathir at Yayasan Albukhary before Muhyiddin's appointment.
But after the news broke that Muhyiddin would be sworn in tomorrow, Eddin Syazlee was spotted at the future prime minister's home instead.

He says the six are himself, Mahathir, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Simpang Renggam MP Dr Maszlee Malik, Kuala Pilah MP Eddin Syazlee Shith, and Kubang Pasu MP Amiruddin Hamzah.
"Lying to be PM?" he says in a Facebook post.

Takiyuddin dakwa 114 ahli Parlimen sokong Muhyiddin jadi PM

“Kita bersama kerajaan BN dulu sebelum meninggalkan BN.
“Jangan terlalu gembira, kita masih satu keluarga. Ini satu proses biasa,” katanya merujuk Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

“Yang penting segala-galanya berjalan dengan baik. Jangan terlampau teruja.” - FMT

Parliament sitting on March 9 is the next battleground

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin will be prime minister tomorrow, and this looks to be a done deal unless the King changes his mind.
Despite this, Muhyiddin's command of a majority in the Dewan Rakyat is still in question and can be challenged by lawmakers in the House.
The next Parliament session has been fixed for March 9, over a week from now.
Former Parliament speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia had pointed out that the Standing Orders do not outline how a motion of no confidence can be done and carried out.

However, confidence in a prime minister can be tested by passing a motion or bill.
As a new coalition, the first logical step once Parliament convenes is to table a motion to replace the Pakatan Harapan appointed speaker Mohd Ariff Yusof.
This will likely be tabled after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong addresses Parliament on March 9 or the day after.
If the motion is defeated, it means that Muhyiddin no longer commands majority support.
Article 43(4) of the Federal Constitution then states that when a prime minister loses majority support in the Dewan Rakyat, he must tender his resignation unless the Agong decides to dissolve Parliament.
However, Muhyiddin can postpone this inevitable challenge to his premiership.
Article 55(2) of the Federal Constitution states the Agong may prorogue (postpone) Parliament. As prime minister, Muhyiddin can advise the King to do so.
Article 55(1) states the Dewan Rakyat sittings must be held within six months of the last sitting - in this case, Dec 5, 2019, meaning that the next session must be called by the first week of June.
Both Muhyididn and Harapan claim to have majority support.
However, the Federal Constitution provides that the Agong can appoint whomever he believes to command majority confidence as prime minister.
Muhyiddin's ascension comes a week after he and Azmin Ali tried to stage a coup to form a government with Umno, PAS, GPS and Warisan without PKR, DAP and Amanah.
This prompted Dr Mahathir Mohamad to resign as prime minister as he refused to work with Umno en-bloc. - Mkini

Protest being held at 8.30pm tonight at Dataran Merdeka
6.25pm: A protest has been called for 8.30pm tonight at Dataran Merdeka.
"Those who are outraged by the betrayal, let’s gather tonight at Dataran Merdeka at 8.30pm. See you there!" reads a message circulating on WhatsApp.
It is understood the rally is being organised by the same group that staged a protest at the square on Tuesday night. That protest was attended by some 80 people. - Mkini
