A beautician has claimed to have received several text-messages containing sexual harassment and threats after she complained that a Perak politician had molested her on New Year's Eve. The senders of the messages, from different unknown mobile numbers, sought to have sex with her and threatened to rape her.
“She received the SMSes after lodging a police report. She then made a second police report over the SMSes,” said her lawyer, Leong Cheok Keng, when contacted. “Some of the SMSes contained the 'F' word in English." The beautician had lodged the police report against a prominent politician on Dec 31 last year, claiming that he had groped her breast at a club in Ipoh. “The police report clearly states that she was molested by a particular politician. Now the case is being investigated and the authorities will decide whether or not to charge the individual,” Leong said. According to a news report,
Perak police chief Mohd Shukri Dahlan confirmed the matter but had declined to elaborate. Leong denied a rumour that his client has received 'compensation' from the politician to settle the matter. “My client wishes to state that she has not received even one sen from the politician. She reserves the right to take legal action against those who have defamed her.
“My client has been suffering from severe mental distress after the incident. Please stop doing more harm to this innocent victim.”
Leong was the lawyer for Pakatan Rakyat in 2009 during the Perak constitutional crisis. Memory lapse The politician has denied the allegation, according to a report in Sin Chew Daily, which did not name him. The report quoted the politician as saying he was so drunk that night that he could not even remember how he left the club. He was later informed by his driver that two of his friends had carried him from the club into the car. He stressed that, as far as he can remember, he did not molest the beautician.
