KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak will make a two-day visit to Sabah shortly before Chinese New Year on Jan 28 and 29.
Chief Minister Musa Aman disclosed this after chairing the weekly state Cabinet meeting here yesterday.
Najib’s schedule includes an inspection of the long-delayed Kota Kinabalu International Airport to see the progress of the extension of the Terminal 1 project, which is said to be nearing completion.
He will also declare open the newly completed Padang Perdana Park, remembered by most city dwellers as Hone Place padang, at Tanjung Aru.
From Tanjung Aru, Najib will proceed to Lintasan Diasoka in the heart of the city to grace the annual Pesta Tanglung (Lantern Festival) in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations.
On Jan 29, Najib will fly to Tawau on the east coast of Sabah from where he and his entourage, including Sabah state Cabinet members, will travel by road to the Maliau Basin, the pristine forest reserve area also known as the “Lost World”.
At Maliau Basin, Najib will witness the signing of a memorandum of understanding on a forest rehabilitation project and also launch the Media Research Centre at the forest reserve.
Najib and his entourage will fly back to Kuala Lumpur from Tawau later in the day. - FMT
