First it was a screening of a sex or rather a porn tape for a select few to view. Then a segment was uploaded on You Tube for the world to see. Oh what a shame.
And then came a statement that the police verified that the video was ‘authentic’. And hot on those heels is the statement that the police are looking for the vendor to verify an Omega timepiece purchase information.
What’s next?
When will all these oh-a-mega watch on Anwar Ibrahim come to a prudent halt? The public opinion of the PDRM was already hitting an all time low way back since the ‘black eye’ episode.
The way PDRM went about managing its selective crowd dispersal of peaceful assemblies is already another serious dent on their armour.
The number of custodial deaths has left an indelible mark on the PDRM.
And now all this calculated and persistent moral assassination of one man is going to rile the rakyat real bad finally.
PDRM must not forget that Anwar Ibrahim is not a single target. There are tens of thousands – in fact millions, who stand by him through their coalition parties of DAP, PAS and PKR.
The public are saying that even if Anwar Ibrahim is a sexual pervert as unashamedly claimed by the master-of-terminate-Anwar agenda, the people are not buying this crap. Do not forget the charges and the mattress lugging drama of the hay-days of Sodomy I. Did the public outcast the victim? No!
You had Sodomy II, but the public are instead growing in numbers to stand by him. So is your oh-a-mega-watch going to stop the tidal wave of support for this man?
And by the way, can PDRM ask BN leaders how come there is hardly even a whisper on the much mentioned ‘Port Dickson Affair’? Or how come BN had a leader within its rank who carted solid cash into a foreign country and declared that he could not speak or understand English when prosecuted by a foreign country? Or how come a BN leader who sleeps with a China-doll outside matrimony now continues to head his party without any oh-a-mega action by PDRM?
Or in the first place is the sex-porn issue on Anwar Ibrahim a far greater and serious crime than the unsolved mystery of deletion of immigration records of the late Ms. Altantuya? Or how the missing C-4 ammunition that blew up this foreign national to undeterminable bits and pieces could have left the strong room of security?
Let us face facts. Even if Anwar Ibrahim was a promiscuous person before, the truth is people see him as promising leader. And in any way you look at it, does not religion teach us that it is far greater a deed to forgive then to condemn?
So, PDRM can only sink further in the public eye as long as it continues to be allowed to be used by political masters for their own ends. Wisdom dictates that while there is still time, PDRM must resurrect itself. PDRM must remember their days since the era of the kaki-brown uniforms. They have come a long way in the protection of the citizens. Now do not let all that great hsitory of your rise go to waste simply because of compromises with the politicians.
PDRM leaders should, at the least, think of the tens of thousands of men and women in blue who want to earn a decent ‘halal’ living by desiring and be allowed to do an honest job.
Do not wait for the day when the rakyat say enough is enough and decide to take to the streets. This is not a threat or a challenge. This is all about the psychology of human behaviour. When public perception precipitates into a believed truth, no guns and tear gas, no amount of detentions, and no amount of threats can stand in their way. History is punctuated with far too many examples for PDRM to learn and regain its respect, honor and integrity.
In the meantime law abiding rakyat can only pray that PDRM regains its wisdom and walks with this nation of people who want better lives for the children's children. A life of honor, respect and integrity.
