KUALA LUMPUR - The Barisan Nasional (BN) should not be accused of distributing the sex video allegedly involving someone resembling opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"BN is a clear and transparent party. The BN will investigate why a certain thing happens, that is the approach that we take. We have stated right from the start that this is not our game, it is being done by certain parties," he told reporters after making a visit to the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters in conjunction with his walkabout in Kuala Lumpur Sunday.
Muhyiddin said this when asked to comment on the motion passed by PAS Assembly today claiming that the BN was responsible for distributing the sex video.
He said that PAS, as a party that championed the cause of Islam, should debate on the truth regarding the perpetrator in the sex video and at the same time state its stand on the issue.
"The party that claims to champion the cause of Islam has deviated from the Islamic platform, they talk about political interest. They totally disregard the question on rights, religious obligations and seeking Allah's blessings.
"Everything is a political game that does not resolve problems and does not help in giving a good image to PAS," he said.
Commenting on Mohamad Sabu's victory as the PAS deputy president in the party election yesterday, Muhyiddin said he did not consider it as abnormal because the leadership transition process in a political party occurred all the time.
"To me, what is important is Umno and BN...what are the preparations, measures, efforts, approach that we take. I am not bothered what they (PAS) is doing, I'm more concerned about what our party members and our government are doing," he said.
Meanwhile, on the residents of Kampung Sungai Kerandang in Kuala Kubu Baharu who would be evicted by the Selangor state government that planned to take back the land for a development project, Muhyiddin said if the Selangor government cared about the problems of the people, they should give an opportunity to the people to continue to stay there.
