Teng compares Guan Eng to irresponsible lover

Penang Gerakan chief Dr Teng Hock Nan has compared the Penang Chief Minister as an irresponsible lover who is unable to take responsibility for his mistakes.

At the party state delegates conference today, the crowd was in stitches as Teng tried to illustrate what kind of leader Lim Guan Eng had become since he took office in 2008.

penang gerakan critisc on land policy 210811 teng hock namTeng said Lim was like a man who was courting a young girl, and would paint himself as the best while wooing her love three years ago.

He would try to show his new girlfriend that he is "capable, powerful and will fight for you", Teng added.

"He will also say he wants to save money for the girl, that he would only travel by airplane on an economy ticket, that he does not want a big house or car," quipped the former state executive member.

However, when the girlfriend is "with child", he would immediately say that he was not responsible for it, and blamed the previous boyfriend for the deed, said Teng.

But the lady, he added, would respond by saying she had broken-up with her ex-lover three years ago.

The man would then say, perhaps, the woman had gone for a swim and 'it' had gone into her, although she does not swim as she does not know how to, he joked.

"By now, the girl would be sms-ing him and get no reply at all," added the state BN working committee chairperson.

'Take responsibility'

NONETeng, who was former Pulau Tikus assemblyperson, said the man's behaviour was exactly like Lim's, who is mum whenever he is questioned on 'big issues' in the newspapers.

"We want to tell Lim: if he wants to do it, just do it, but be responsible for it, don't push everything to the federal government, or civil officers," he said.

"If he is a real leader, he must learn how to take responsibility for what happens in Penang now," added Teng, who is a medical doctor by profession.

Teng then showed the delegates a glass of fresh water, to which he added with a sachet of Nescafe, to demonstrate Lim's nature - 'transparent' initially but later becoming murky.

'He is not pure!'

"It is our responsibility to tell the people that he is not pure!" he exclaimed, drawing loud applaud from the delegates.

Meanwhile, Teng urged party delegates to turn themselves into a formidable force against Lim's CAT (competency, accountability and transparency) government.

NONETeng said Gerakan must provide meaningful checks and balances against the "powerful, arrogant and dictorial" Lim administration.

BN must also stop the "dangerous trend" by Lim's government in deviating away from rule of law to rule of individual.

Teng then gave four 'tell-tale' signs of the 'deviations' by Lim's government:

- The refusal to endorse the Penang Local Plan by the state planning committee, which is chaired by the chief minister;

- the lopsided, scandalous agreement signed between the Penang Muncipal Council and developer ECO-Meridien, a subsidiary of SP Setia, over the Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre, a RM300 million project in Relau;

- announcement of Penang Hill development according to the 1990 concept by private developer on behalf of the state government and

- announcement of big plans and mega projects such as the proposed of monorail, subway and skybus cable car, among others, which have not taken place.

"We must get ready as a viable alternative to the CAT govt," he told his audience.
