KFC deeply regrets assault on customer
KFC Malaysia today - more than a week after one of its employees allegedly assaulted a customer - expressed its "deepest regret" over the incident that occurred at iCity in Shah Alam.
"We do express our deepest regrets towards the incident and soon we'll be resolving this issue as the investigation is soon coming to an end," KFC Malaysia said.
The fast food outlet said this on its official Facebook page today, and thanked fans for their feedback.
"Apart from that, we would like to urge all our dearest friends not to further speculate this issue to become racist in nature," KFC said.
The company drew fire after a video clip was circulated on the Internet, showing a KFC employee at its iCity branch storming out of the kitchen to punch a customer.
Some netizens accused the victim, Danny Ng, of provoking the attack with racist remarks.
Both Ng and the videomaker, Jess6366, denied the allegation, while police have also warned netizens not to post racist comments on the incident.
Meanwhile, a KFC rival is poking fun at the issue in its poster on Facebook.
"We're good at punchlines, not punches," reads the Nando's Malaysia advertisement, promising to put smiles instead of fists on the faces of its customers.
As at 5.40pm today, about four hours after the poster was published, it drew 1,306 "likes" and was shared 1,641 times on Facebook.
Many of the 244 comments posted praise Nando's for the witty response, while a few others think it is done in bad taste.
