Really what is becoming of Malaysia these days? The speculations on the 13th GE date is spreading onto the four corners of the country; meanwhile one man is seemingly holding the nation at ransom by remaining tight lipped on the elections' date.
And so the daily ration of expose after expose of scams is growing; counter allegations in the wake of allegation after allegation keeps taking the breath off the rakyat.
What common sense dictates
Common sense dictates that at the rate the exposes are racing ahead, soon if not by now, MACC and the police will have to surrender with a 'tak larat lah lagi'. If they do not do so, it is also due for another expose in all probability because that is what common sense dictates.
The expose after expose of misdeeds, mismanagement, misappropriation, and what have you is also exposing another shocking outcome, namely that nothing happens after that.
If the mysteries surrounding the brutal disappearance of the Mongolian citizen Altantuya is shocking beyond comprehension, the on-going scams, allegations, denials, blanketing and what have you is even more shocking for citizens.
But everything appears like the proverbial semuanya ok syndrome these days within the corridors of power.
Latest Anak-gates
And the politicians from both sides are saying the other is bad. So if all parties are bad, then we do not have anyone good enough to lead this nation. Then who is?
If the Cowgates was not gasping enough, now you have sex-gates and land-gates added in; if toll-gates andhighway-gates is not chocking, you now have anak-gates.
Oh, Anak-gates refers to the latest allegation or news or lie or truth - its anyone's guess for now, of a senior minister's son in a Porsche involved with the beating up of a security supervisor.
So what exactly is becoming of Malaysia? It looks like only civil society can do something to shutdown all the gates, take liars and thieves to task and eventually get this country on track to face the future with principles and values.
Perhaps religious leaders of all faiths should convene a special session with value-centred NGOs and professional bodies to do something to stop the bleeding nation.
Or shall we all say, who cares, and also live by the semuanya ok lah mindset or if you like join the madness and hail the emperor's coat?
