A remark by deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin questioning the solution to the mini storm in the Kedah state exco invited sharp rebukes from PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and secretary general Mustafa Ali.
“There's no need for him to over-react. It is enough that he takes care of Shahrizat's cows," Mustafa said in his short reaction when asked by Harakahdaily, referring to Wanita UMNO head Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, whose family company National Feedlot Corporation has been locked in a protracted controversy over revelations of financial abuse involving public funds. Muhyiddin was the Agriculture minister when the RM250 million cattle-rearing project was awarded to the NFC helmed by Shahrizat's husband and children.
Muhyiddin had commented on the decision by two Kedah PAS deputy commissioners Phahrolrazi Zawawi and Dr Ismail Salleh to abide by the outcome of an arbitration by PAS leaders to resolve difference between the duo and Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak.
According to Muhyiddin, the Central PAS's decision to form a steering committee to oversee state administration showed the party's lack of trust in Azizan's leadership.
Echoing Mustafa, Mat Sabu advised Muhyiddin to keep his silence and concentrate on clearing his name in the NFC saga.
“Azizan is still the MB, so how does that show Central PAS's distrust in him?" he asked.
"PAS has given its full trust in Azizan to lead Kedah throughout the next general election," he added.
According to Mat Sabu, PAS does not subscribe to conflict resolution ala-UMNO.
“Take the NFC issue for example, up till today, Muhyiddin does not have the courage to take any action against Shahrizat in spite of the piles of revelations," he said.
Mustafa meanwhile announced that leaders would meet next week to formally set up the proposed steering committee, which will have an advisory role.

People really don’t care if politicians attack each other with untrue stories. They figure if you don’t want to get hurt, you shouldn’t have filed for office. They figure whatever happens to us, our lives will be better than theirs.
ReplyDeleteThe MACC should investigate this case and reveal the truth.
