However, opposition's leaders were silent on when they would come to a decision on it
KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Rakyat states will decide whether they will hold their state elections alongside the 13th general election in the near future.
Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim was, however, mum on when these discussions which will involve the respective menteris besar and chief minister, will take place.
Nevertheless, he confirmed that such a meeting will involve all the four Pakatan state heads.
“All the four state heads will meet,” he told reporters at his office at Parliament.
Anwar also said that Pakatan would accept whatever decision the state heads came up with.
“The consensus can be that we don’t go for it together. It is the decision of the state. It can be that it is better to have Kelantan election together, but not Selangor for example.”
“…Let them decide on this, we are open,” said Anwar, the Permatang Pauh MP.
Pakatan is in control of four states (Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan) following the result of the 12th general election.
It also won Perak, but lost the state to Barisan Nasional less than a year later.
Bagan MP and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was also silent on when the meeting would take place.
“We can only make such a decision when we have discussed it with the other MBs. The details of the discussion will be kept secret until we meet,” he said.
Anwar was also worried with what he claimed was election irregularities.
He said that there were 522 cases where there were more than 100 voters in every address.
