The Rakyat’s priority : ABU. What about the non-BN political parties?

I spoke at an ABU ceramah in Terengganu over the weekend.

Before that, it was at Buntong, Masjid Tanah and Senawang.

Chegubard and the others are all over the country spreading the same message in the Malay heartlands.

Asalkan Bukan UMNO / BN!

And as I said in some other post, yes, ABU does have a gameplan.

And we are reaching out to those who most need to hear the ABU message.

Perhaps not at the pace we would like, but we are getting there.

And more and more of the rakyat are getting onto the ABU bandwagon.

Which is why the report in FMT today, ‘Which way will SAPP swing?’, leaves me troubled.

The writer’s byline, “The Sabah Progressive Party must decide soon on whether it wants to ally with STAR or Pakatan Rakyat”, raises the question, are not STAR and Pakatan Rakyat on the same page?

In my “Why I was refused entry into Sabah” post, I shared with you that since April last year until the time of my refused entry, I had been regularly going into Sabah and working with many of the political leaders there. This is what i said in that post.

“Met many people, and made many new friends.

MCLM members, political and grassroot leaders, and activists.

All of whom share the same viewpoint as I.

That UMNO and other BN leaders together with their cronies have plundered the wealth of this naton.

That if this nation is to be rehabilitated, if what remains of our national resources is to be properly applied to uplift the lives of the 40% who have been long marginalised, and if we are to have any chance at restituting some of the nation’s wealth back to the rakyat, UMNO and BN had to be removed from Putrajaya”.

In short, they too are ready to ABU! ABU! ABU!

They include the top most leaders of SAPP and Jeffrey Kitingan and his United Borneo Front.

And I can confirm here that it was not just a lot of ABU talk, but that they did walk their talk.

And continue to do so.

Lest we forget, SAPP was formally at the ABU launch on 15th December last year to make announce its fullest support for this rakyat initiative.

And for those who may not know what is happening on the ground in the interiors of Sabah, Jeffrey’s ‘tea parties’ have played a significant role in planting the spirit of ‘Aku Bencikan UMNO’ amongst the people.

So where does all this leave us?

Pakatan Rakyat is clearly with ABU. Leaders of DAP, PAS and PKR have spoken at our ceramah.

PRM and PSM are part of the ABU secretariat. No doubts as to where they stand.

So does it make a difference whether SAPP aligns with STAR or PR?

From the FMT report, it appears that this is about a tussle for seats in Sabah in the anticipated 13th GE.

My inquiries with people in Sabah confirms this to be so.

The Pakatan parties, I am told, expect the lion’s share of seats.

This, it seems, does not sit well with the local parties.

In my ‘Strategising ABU’ post I said this :

“…if we can prise those vulnerable seats away from BN, and successfully defend the existing opposition seats, we should take Putrajaya with a total of 141 seats.

Now, I want to clarify here that by ‘we’, I do not mean Pakatan Rakyat.

I mean the 3 Pakatan parties, working cohesively with the many other non-BN parties in Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak.

And us, the rakyat.

Lets be very, very clear about this.

Pakatan Rakyat cannot and will not be able to bring BN to its knees by itself.

Its going to require the combined force of all these parties working towards 1 goal : ABU.

And that will require them to bury party egos, adopt a give and take attitude and work it so  that we offer only 1 candidate in every constituency” .

My question to all of you.

How do we get the non-BN political party leaders to also prioritise ABU and put aside party interests, to ensure straight contests with BN in all constituencies?

Mark my words, if there is no rakyat intervention in this matter, we are going to see a repeat of the Batu Sapi by-election in many constituencies come the 13th GE. - The People's Parliament
