Selangor won’t penalise Hasan over office renovations

March 24, 2012
KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 — The Selangor government will not take action against former state exco member Datuk Hasan Ali for allegedly overspending on office renovations, said Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
This comes after PKR’s Azmin Ali had accused Hasan(picture) of lavish spending including RM300,000 on office renovations and RM500,000 on a conference organised by Selangor Malay Customs and Heritage Corporation (Padat).
“I feel there is no cause to take action against the spending because it follows Treasury procedures,” Khalid was quoted as saying to reporters today.
“Maybe Azmin was comparing the mentri besar’s office which was not renovated but Hasan’s office is new.”
Azmin had raised the matter of Hasan’s expenditures at the meeting of the state assembly yesterday.
The Bukit Antarabangsa state assemblyman claimed that that Hasan had gone against the state’s open tender policy in appointing contractors and he had asked PAS to probe the matter before Hasan was sacked from the party.
PAS had dropped Hasan from its membership on January 8 for “actions which have wronged and damaged the party’s interest as provided for in the PAS constitution.”
Prior to that the Gombak Setia state assemblyman was removed as Selangor PAS chief.
