SPNB HOUSING IN SABAH FACED DELAY

A QUESTION was raised in Parliament by the Kota Kinabalu MP, Hiew King Cheu concerning the issue on the many projects of the SPNB housing in Sabah; he asked on the reasons on the delay because many house buyers are being affected and much conveniences caused.
The Ministry of Finance in reply said until today there are 5 projects totalling 1998 units being completed and handed over.
To date, there is no projects undertaken by the SPNB (Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad) in Sabah being abandoned or ordered to stop work. Anyway, it is true there are 10 projects that are under construction and faced delay in the completion.
The delay is mainly due to the problems of finance difficulty resulting from the poor sale of the units to gain fund for supporting the construction work. At the same time, the rising costs of the materials in 2007 -2008 had affected the cost of construction.
There are some new projects which are going through redesigning following the new guidelines and new technology to save cost, to improve the quality and enhance an faster completion.
SPNB is at the moment taking action to complete the 10 projects that faced delayed in to complete them in stages starting from July 2012. In 2012, there will be 2,182 units of houses will be completed and 3,704 units in 2013.
MP Hiew saw this as another excuse made by the SPNB, because these projects are in the hand of the Ministry of Finance, that had been launched many years ago, why there is the problem of lack of finance, no buyers, building material price increase etc.?
In the real fact, all projects under the MOF has full allocation of fund and will not faced financial problems. There should be a fulfillment of the government promise, and not putting the people into further headache and paying to the bank for a house that is in the air.
The MOF should not just sit and wait, they should come up with the necessary money to pump into the projects to speed up the work of all the 10 delayed projects. If the government can pay BR1M RM500 up to billions ringgits, why can't they help the SPNB housing? - Sabahkini

  8. Kelewatan penyiapan ini cuma akan mengundang masalah penambahan perbelanjaan. Sebaiknya apa projek yang dirancang akan siap pada masa yang dijanjikan.
