WHY NO CHINESE OFFICERS ON CHINA TRIP?

THE 16 member visiting group organized by DBKK recently led by the KK City Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir for a four days and three nights visit to the China Kwong Tung Province, Sheng Tsen, Ho Yen City was extensively publicized.
The group was also joined by other members of the Chinese associations, and educationists.
The visiting group had visited various industrial sites and places of interest. The Mayor said they have achieved and fostered strong relationship and ties with the Ho Yen City, and he had invited the Chinese counterpart to visit Sabah in the future.
Edward Ewol Mujie commented that the member from DBKK visiting group has no Chinese senior officer accompanying the Mayor. He said this is not logical because the trip going to China where the DBKK Chinese senior officers should be selected to join the trip.
There are as many as 10 senior Chinese officers working in DBKK, like the Director General of DBKK Datuk Dr. Yeo Bon Hai is the highest ranking Chinese officer there. Why this had happened, and why going to China without the selection of Chinese speaking officer who can help in many ways during the stay in China?
This has raised much doubt on the motive, decision and the logic behind the arrangement made by the Mayor Datuk Abidin. Has he done the right thing? How much has he learnt from this trip and how much of that can be used and apply to the KK City?
For public interest, the Mayor must disclose on how much money had been spent on this trip, and he should explain the method on how he selected the members to follow the trip. We don’t want to see the rates payers’ money being wasted for some unfruitful outstation oversea trip.
The DBKK is controlled under the direct jurisdiction of the Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman, and his assistant Minister Datuk Edward Khoo, we wonder how much the duo knew about this trip and its arrangement.
On the other hand, they might have consented and approved the trip both on its arrangement. If this was the case, why they did not make adjustment to include one or two Chinese senior officers from DBKK into the visiting group?
The people in Kota Kinabalu City has been longing to see a 'Chinese Mayor' since year 2000, but very unfortunately until today the position is still held by a non-Chinese. We call for a Chinese Mayor to be installed immediately without further delay. May be this will be made possible when Pakatan Rakyat comes into power in the near future. - Sabahkini
