KOTA KINABALU: Joint roadblocks by the police and Road Transport Department (RTD) during peak hours at four main roads in the state capital incurred the ire of motorists who were caught in long crawls here.
Unsuspecting motorists who were looking to enjoy the long weekend had to endure roadblocks mounted at Tanjung Aru near the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Likas, Luyang and Menggatal here from as early as 10am.
Among those stuck in the jam was an upset Kalabakan MP Datuk Abdul Ghapur Salleh who nearly missed his flight to Tawau.

Abdul Ghapur said he was catching the flight to the east coast district when he came up to a traffic snarl that he claimed – had stretched for 4km.
“I believe there were other people rushing to the airport and everyone was caught in the jam because of the roadblock at a peak time.

“Who would compensate the people if they were to miss their flights?,” said the annoyed Abdul Ghapur.
He said he understood that the authorities were merely doing their job, but pointed out such exercises be done at an appropriate time and carried out systematically.
Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Ahmad Sofi Zakaria said the roadblocks were carried out as a normal weekend crime prevention exercises by the police.
“We are specifically focusing on crimes like car theft while the RTD was also there to ensure motorists abide by the traffic laws,”
Such operations, said ACP Ahmad Sofi, would be held from time to time as the number of traffic offenders are high. - Star
polis jika nak buat roadblock pn kenalah sistematik, jalan ada 2 lorong, gunalah kedua2 lorong tersebut, jgnlah dikecilkan pergi satu lorong, ia yang buat tambah sesak.

Deletesetuju.. apa salahkan polis trafik guna saja lorong2 yang ada? tidak perlulah jalan itu dikecilkan menjadi 2 atau 1 lorong.. cara itu memang memudahkan polis trafik, tapi menyusahkan beratus ribu pengguna jalanraya..
Deletejika sistematik, pasti masalah kesesakan kerana roadblock dpt dikurangkan.

DeleteSekatan sebegini memang kadang kala menyusahkan orang lain. Mungkin ada orang yang mengejar masa terpaksa dibuang begitu saja.
ReplyDeletejika roadblock ini hanya dilaksanakan pada waktu2 dimana jalan tidak sibuk, maka makin mudah la penjenayah melarikan diri.. makin banyak kesalahan trafik dilakukan oleh pengguna jalan raya..
