THERE are much requests and complaints received by the Sabah DAP visiting group who took a walkabout into the water village in the slump area of Tanjong Aru Lama which had been neglected by the government for decades.
The group was led by the KK MP Hiew King Cheu with the vice chairman Edward Ewol Mujie, Andrew Lee, Stephen Yaman and members. They took a walkabout right into the heart of this water village and spoken to many of the residents here concerning their request and complaint.
The people is not happy about the government for not looking into their needs here and it has been for a long time that many people had requested the assistance from the government.
The government housing board, no matter it is LPPB, PPRT or SPNB should come to look into this area to assist to people here, because they are our local folks. The authority should come up with immediate plans to build affordable and low cost housing for them.
The wooden houses here are far too old and some is more than 60 years old and near collapse. Many people told the KK MP Hiew that they have applied for low cost houses but never got a reply. They felt they have been let down by the government for ignoring them.
Hiew feels that it will not be difficult to resettle these people into low cost flats put up by the government. A resettlement scheme can be easily drafted out to give this people a better home. This needs determination and stern commitment from the government to take care of the people. We should not leave them to continue to suffer further.
There still many problems remain unattended to, like street lights, garbage in the sea, and broken down foot bridge etc.
Hiew said he is happy to notice that the hanging water pipes here which were near collapse have been put right and fixed properly by the Jabatan Air after the previous DAP visit to the kampong and highlighted in the newspaper.
DAP heard from them that there is some people wanted to take the land here for private development project, and before anything as such happened, the housing boards should come to assist the people here in providing them with better housing. This is their basic right to continue to live here after 4 generations living here. - Sabahkini
I thought they are PATI, never thought they are our own people.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think the government should take note of this.
DeleteAnyways, hope there will be changes made to these people's lives.
ReplyDeleteThese people really need our help. Change must be implemented.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong to request for something but please no political intention pls.
DeleteBeen neglected since 10 years ago? So impossible. Where is the assemblyman?
