Kedah MCA chief denies backing hudud law
Kedah MCA chief Chong Itt Chew has denied a Sinar Harian report which quoted him saying that he was supportive of hudud law.
Chong claimed that in the phone interview with the Malay daily, the issue of hudud law was never raised.
"They never touched about hudud, nothing was ever brought up, I am very disappointed with their report," he said when contacted.
Chong said he had merely responded to former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad proposal for PAS to join forces with Umno under BN.
"My statement was very clear, any political party that want to join BN will need the clerance of BN top leadership and they must follow the BN constitution and all criteria set by BN," he said.
He reiterated that the party including in Kedah is fiercely against hudud law.
"All the while I have issued so many statements that we are against the implementation of hudud law in Kedah.
"I am strongly against hudud law and I follow our MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek's stance - that is against hudud law," he said.
