Noh Omar 'not mere landlord' of prawn farm
Sekinchan assemblyperson Ng Suee Lim and more than 100 supporters have protested in front of a prawn farm in Tanjung Karang, Selangor, alleging that landowner Noh Omar had abused his power as the agriculture and agro-based industries minister.
Ng also revealed fresh evidence that purportedly shows the minister is in fact a joint-venture partner in the farm, not a mere landlordas he had previously claimed.
Malaysiakini is attempting to contact Noh for comment.
“Noh can eat prawns, including his otak udang (dull brain), but he cannot breed prawns. This is an abuse of power. The person who supposedly wants to become the (Selangor) menteri besar must step forward and answer these allegations,” Ng said.
He said people are unhappy because it is difficult for them to obtain land, when Noh was able to obtain 12 hectares of former mangrove reserves that form part of the farm, which occupies over 40 hectares.
Pristine Agrofood Sdn Bhd director Chu Bak Teck had previouslydenied that it had teamed up with Noh in the project.
