Soi Lek: DAP's goal is to join BN

DAP’s long-term plan is to join BN and replace MCA to protect its position in Penang, said MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek.

“DAP politicians are like any other politicians who thirst for power.

“Now, they are in the state government in Penang and they hope to be in the federal government,” he told reporters in Yong Peng, Johor yesterday, according to The Star.

Thus, he urged Chinese voters not to be “conned” by DAP.

Chua also slammed DAP for allegedly telling the Chinese community in Johor that they are the “kingmakers” in the next general election.

“I would like to remind the Chinese community, if you support DAP thinking the Chinese are the ‘kingmakers’, you are wrong,” he said.

Chua explained that DAP allegedly misled the voters during the Sarawak state election last year that they were the “kingmakers”.

Although DAP made handsome gains during that election, BN still had a solid grip on the state after it won 55 out of 71 seats.

In an immediate response, Johor DAP chief Dr Boo Cheng Hau urged Chua not to use race as his trump card during the general election.

He said surveys conducted by Pakatan Rakyat had revealed that there is a clear change in voter sentiments across all races in Johor.

“I urge BN and Pakatan component parties to campaign in a rational manner and avoid racial issues which can drive a wedge between Malaysians,” he said.

Although Chua is based in Kuala Lumpur, he maintains a strong presence in Johor BN, having served several terms as a state legislative assemblyperson there.
