With Musa humbled, all eyes now on AG

YOURSAY 'Musa is now left hanging out to dry on his own... His cooperation however will be very important to catch the real head honcho.'

Ex-IGP Musa withdraws suit against Anwar

your saySwipenter: It may be better to former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan (and his co-conspirators) to live with a unproven allegation rather than live with a proven one. That way his co-conspirators would also be protected.

No trial means no more bringing to life the ugliness, deceit and lies involved in Sodomy 1. In this Sodomy 1 trial, we must remember that bigger crocodiles were involved and Musa was just taking taking orders from them.

It's better not stir the hornet nest again because you never know what can happen. Perhaps it was not Musa's decision to withdraw the suit.

Wira: If the defamation suit does go on and for it to stick, Musa and attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail will have to bring in court and under oath, evidence and testimonies that are either incriminating or a revelation of their incompetence.

Changeagent: This is a small but significant victory. It increases the public's perception that Anwar was framed in Sodomy I and II, not that it was ever in doubt by the majority of right-thinking Malaysians.

More importantly, it also increases the perception that the authorities have been fabricating evidence to nail him by hook or crook.

Mirror On The Wall: One wonders how in the world an IGP could misunderstand a statement made by anyone and still be top cop? It is a reflection of his educational level, a case of being promoted despite his incompetence.

#27342##65#: The withdrawal of the suit by Musa speaks volumes.

It's God the Almighty who ordain and decide, whilst man can plan, and even the best plan devised by many men would fail miserably, especially so when it's founded with evil hands and evil intentions.

What is this worldly seeking cost and award for DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim) is a leader who believes that to err is human whilst to forgive is divine.

May God bless you, DSAI, for only you having the key to free Malaysians to the heights and glory that this nation deserves.

Anonymous #55961902: From day one when Anwar was charged for Sodomy I, I told every one of my friends that it was a trumped-up by none other than the most evil leader of our beloved country.
And I also said that Anwar would win the case but he would nevertheless be sentenced to jail. I was right and it was proven in court that the Sodomy I could not stick but Anwar eventually went to jail.

And I remembered one of DSAI's teacher said the truth will prevail. True to his words, the truth has prevailed. God has his ways of revealing who are the bad and good characters.

James1067: The wheels of justice will keep on turning and in the end you will pay the price for your actions. The withdrawal of the suit is a humiliating defeat for Musa, knowing very well a lot more dirt will be exposed.

How much power you hold will not stop justice from taking its course for it have the mighty creator's hand working against injustice.

Don't Play-Play: "Anwar's lawyer N Surendran said as a result of the withdrawal, they are not seeking costs."

What does this imply? Anwar supporters, go figure it out. Don't shoot your mouth off and make yourselves look like fools.

Gerard Lourdesamy: Having been in legal practice for 20 years and being involved in defamation suits, it is customary not to ask for costs if the suit is withdrawn on the first day of trial.

Since Musa was the plaintiff, he would have incurred all the costs in the preparation for the trial. Anwar's costs would be limited to drafting his defence and vetting the documents prepared by the plaintiff for trial.

Besides, Anwar was magnanimous enough not to seek costs because he was being prime ministerial.

Gandhi: Ex-IGP Musa is wiser and made the right move. DSAI played the part of a true and forgiving leader.

Ferdtan: It is not surprising that Musa had withdrawn his defamation suit against Anwar. In the Umno government, if you are not holding any official post you would be left unprotected from being sued by any wrongful parties. The might of the government machineries will not be available at his beck and call.

Musa was brave in the past as he was holding the highest post in the police force; he still had great influence to do wrongful deeds for his political masters with impunity. He now knows that he cannot win in court on a level-playing field.

Ling Liong Sik, a once most powerful man in MCA and conferred with the nation's highest title of Tunship, must have learned his lesson well when he was charged for cheating in the PKFZ's (Port Klang Free Zone) case.

There were many BN leaders involved in the fiasco but he was the one charged in this ‘showcase' to make BN looked ‘good' in the fight against corruption.

We dare to say a reigning Umno division head, at any time, stands higher (in terms of protection from prosecution for wrongdoings) than any retired MCA's presidents or ministers.

MIC's ex-president, S Samy Vellu, is one very smart fellow - he left unscarred. He must have his own means to protect himself.

Borg Kinaulu: What this means is Musa has past his use-by date and is left hanging out to dry on his own because Umno has realised that everyone is suing DSAI for all sort of things and none stick and there is no impact on the increasing support for DSAI.

So what to do? Better ‘salam' DSAI's hand and ask for forgiveness, while DSAI forgives and stop pursuing the matter. Musa's cooperation will however be very important to catch the real head honcho.

Mushiro: Withdrawing the suit means Musa is admitting guilt - that he fabricated evidence against Anwar in Sodomy I.

Musa would have been pressured by Gani Patail to withdraw as the attorney-general would look a coward by not suing Anwar. - Malaysiakini
