Barisan Nasional goes to the polls with most of its chieftains dropped, this is a first in the history of the party and the first time the country is witnessing such a massive "sacrifice."
If there was a higher position in UMNO than President, the President of Barisan Nasional himself would have been dropped and he has more reasons for it than have the rest and now let us examine them.
Chua Soi Lek, the President of Barisan's second largest partner the MCA has announced that he will not be contesting in the 13th General Elections.
He attributed this to, with the 'renewal process' of the party to reinvent and reinvigorate itself to ensure it remained relevant in the new century, in saying so he has admitted that MCA is no longer relevant and he could not be further from the truth, and that is precisely what the Malaysians and especially the Malaysian Chinese will tell the MCA via the ballot box come the 13th Malaysian General Elections.
Chua's statements that he will be the first full time MCA Chairman holds no water, he knows very well that he is on his way out, he is of no significance to the party any longer other than to to go and give the the fi9rst salvo of nonsense at the political ceramas and his time is up. Come the next MCA elections the fight will be between Leow and Ong Tee Keat, and this time around with all the shadow boxing put aside Najib will want Tee K eat back.
The MCA president is without a seat even before the first vote has been cast for the 13th General elections, even the hope that he might win has been abandoned, as there is literally no hope, a lost case and fighting and championing a lost cause. He has been dropped because of his videod sex case, where he admitted that the main actor was him.
Perhaps a victim of the 13th General Elections are the UMNO youth, their Chief has been dropped, not one of the Keris wielding type he is probably the most academically accomplished UMNO youth president.
Of course the biggest dunce here is the man who ensured that Khairy's win meant nothing, and ensured his son Mukhriz who fared the worst in the UMNO youth elections a political discard in his own party was made a deputy minister and Khairy left sucking thumb.
Faced with what Mahathir Mohammed wanted Najib just gave in while Khairy Jamaluddin sucked thumb,
A graduate in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University he obtained his Masters Philosophy, Politics and economics from the University College London, compared with Mukhriz Mahathir who is a direct beneficiary of nepotism, having come into politcs on the strength that his father was a the one time prime Minsiter of Malaysia.
In 2006, after his father had retired from the position of Prime Minister, and declared that he would not interfere in the politics of the country, Mukhriz spoke on behalf of his father at the Kubang Pasu UMNO divisional election, claiming that there was a plan to "topple" Mahathir. What was there to topple anyway, Mahathir could to have been expecting to be nominated again for the position of Member of Parliament for Kubang Pasu, unless of course he was planning a come back. Mukhriz won at that divisional elections and Mahathir was duly dumped, having duly lost at his own party elections at his own Parliamentary constituency, and today Mukhriz is being groomed for the office of Prime Minster of Malaysia..
So whilst the victor lies languishing in defeat the loser gloats in a victory of sorts, that is what I call "UMNO intrigue,"they do things so shamefully and go about life as though nothing ahs happened that requires notice, and if it is brought to the fore, they'll blame others.
Johnathan Swift could not have said it better, "When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him." not that Khairy is a true genius but in the party of the blind the one eyed certainly is king.
Shaaarizat the President of Woman's Wing fo UMNO has been dropped, again one wonders what is happening and one has to ask the question is UMNO rudderless?
Looked at from every angle that is what seems to be the case, whilst the Youth, Wanita and , Puteri wings have all been dropped the likes of Mukhriz will most likely go for the MB of Kedah's position all because the great UMNO Chieftain has decided so, and that is not Najib but Mahahtir.
Things are even worse, the head of Gerakan has also been dropped, his party was all but wiped out at the 2008 elections, and today he claims to have lent so seats to the PPP.
Having mentioned the PPP latest news indicates that its president Kayveas will be contesting as the BN candidate of Kepong, a sure loss for BN, there is no way Kayveas will be able to take that seat, and for all its racial politics who will Kayveas represent the Indians or the Chinese in accordance with Barisan norms?
Born KV Subramaniam he changed his name to Kayveas, whcih simply means KVS and one wonders why he did not opt for his initials rather than change the name his parents gave him at birth.
