Beribu-ribu tahniah – the Zul version

Within 24 hours since a video emerged singing praises of BN and MIC, a parody of the video highlighting the controversial Shah Alam candidate is making waves.
PETALING JAYA: A parody to Deepan Chakravarthy’s ‘Barisan Nasional: Beribu-ribu tahniah’ has emerged and going viral on social networking site, Facebook.
The difference this time however, is clips of BN’s independent candidate Zulkifli Noordin has been edited into the song.
The controversial Perkasa vice-president is depicted in the video from 0.30 minute to the end of the 2.29 video clip.
The clip shows him greeting BN supporters on nomination day.
It was uploaded on Facebook page called Anak Muda Umno Reloaded. It has 516 shares since it was uploaded yesterday.
The video appears to be a swipe at MIC with regard to an earlier video of Zulkifli belittling Hindus. Zulkifli has already apologised openly over his insensitive remarks.
MIC vice president M Saravanan who is defending the Tapah parliament seat had urged Indians in Shah Alam not to vote for Zulkifli Noordin yesterday.
“I will never forgive him (Zulkifli). I will continue to tell Indians not to vote for him, he doesn’t deserve their votes.
“If I were to say something disrespectful towards Muslims or their beliefs and then apologise, do you think they will accept it?” he added.
Zulkifli is facing incumbent Khalid Samad of PAS for the Shah Alam parliamentary seat.
In 2008, Khalid wrested the seat from Umno’s Aziz Shamsudin with a majority of 9,314 votes. Khalid polled 33,356 to Aziz’s 24,042 votes.
Currently there are 100,076 voters of which Malays are the majority at 69%. The balance are made up 15% Chinese and 14% Indians.
