Blazing fire for Pakatan?

It is still early days yet but the record number of independents contesting in the 13th general election is a sign that something big is coming our way and everyone wants to be part of it.

The last-minute about-turn made by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in allowing DAP candidates to use the Rocket logo must have been due to the rakyat’s anger in condemning the BN government on ROS’ earlier decision in disallowing its use by the DAP.
Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak surely has crackpots for advisers as far as strategy is concerned.
After doing some simple arithmetic and coming to the conclusion that PAS with DAP contesting under its banner may stand to win 100 seats, they quickly did a flip-flop on the earlier decision.
PAS is contesting 76 seats and if PAS wins 55 seats and DAP (which is contesting 48 seats) wins 45, then PAS will gain 100 seats. This thought is just too terrifying for Najib and the rest of the Umno leaders and therefore ROS did a flip-flop due to Umno’s fears.
Another factor that made those silly strategists backtrack is that if DAP candidates were to contest using PAS and PKR logos, it would show that the Pakatan Rakyat component parties are helping one another and harmoniously working together, which is in direct contrast to what has been portrayed about Pakatan in the mainstream media.
Another factor, of course, is that if DAP uses PAS and PKR logos, DAP is considered non-existent and Umno can no longer attack DAP by saying that DAP is anti-Malay and anti-Islam. More on this later.
Therefore it was decided to let DAP “live” so that Umno can whack it in order to garner Malay votes.
“The thought of PAS winning seats in Kuala Lumpur such as Kepong, Cheras, Seputeh, Bukit Bintang and the chief minister of Penang a PAS man must have really terrified Najib to such a great extent that he had to reverse his earlier decision thereby making him seem foolish. This just goes to show that he is now in great panic,” said PAS leader Nizar Jamaluddin who is currently contesting the state seat of Changkat Jering.
Nizar also said that Najib must not hinder the election process by engaging in anymore shenanigans, and if the outcome of the 13th general election does not favour BN, then he must graciously step down.
This is especially true as BN leaders have always been urging the Pakatan leaders to accept the citizens’ verdict.
Upbeat mood
The incident involving DAP’s Rocket logo so far has only worked towards strengthening the co-operation among Pakatan’s component parties and the best is in Perak where every Pakatan member has been working at the third gear and above since February 2009 after the fall of Perak through illegal means.
The momentum for change is gaining ground.
This columnist’s friend in Terengganu, Jefri Chua, who is a high-ranking member of the PAS Supporters’ Congress in Terengganu, has reported that PAS operations centre has run out of DAP flags which is in high demand despite the fact that DAP is not even contesting in Terengganu!
Meanwhile, banners with the faces of Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng and Karpal Singh with the words “DAP anti-Melayu dan anti-Islam” have been put up in the parliamentary constituency of Segambut in Kuala Lumpur on nomination day (April 20) where the incumbent Lim Lip Eng of DAP will be battling it out against Gerakan’s Jayanthi Devi Balaguru.
Now you can see the reason why DAP is being allowed to use the Rocket logo: it is because DAP’s existence is the weapon for Umno to obtain Malay support.
Commenting on these provocative banners, Nizar is of the view that Umno leaders have no more ideas on how to garner support as even BN’s manifesto is copied mainly from Pakatan’s.
“BN leaders are still living in the 1960s era. This is indeed shocking as Najib has always urged Malaysians to move forward when in fact BN is the one which need to do so,” said Nizar.
He also reminded voters that Malaysians can only move forward if there is a new federal government on May 6.
History-wise, the BN federal government is the longest-serving so-called democratic government in world history and Malaysians would be stupid to maintain this atrocious record.
In the past, the mood during the hustings has never been this upbeat. People have always taken it for granted that BN will win and win big. But this time, every battle for every seat will be closely monitored.
In 2008, the tsunami started from the north. In Chinese metaphysics, 2008 was the year of the rat which is a water animal and north is the direction of water – the rat’s direction.
This time the change will start from the south because this year being the snake year, the symbol is fire and its direction is south.
Therefore Pakatan is doing things right in starting the fire of change from the south which will spread upwards because fire “qi” (force) goes up. (Water travels down as in the year 2008 while fire goes up and it will be so in the year 2013.)
It is still early days yet but the record number of independents contesting in the 13th general election is a sign that something big is coming our way and everyone wants to be part of it.
