SELANGOR BN chairperson Najib Abdul Razak promised that the high-tension electrical cable will not pass through Kampung Sungai Terentang in Rawang, Selangor.
He said that this will be included in Selangor BN's Aku Janji (pledge) document.
"A long-standing issue is the high tension cables going through Kampung Sungai Terentang.
"This issue will be included in BN's Aku Janji. The path (of the cables) will be changed and not go through Sungai Terentang.
"This is my commitment as the BN chairperson. I hope this issue will not be raised again," he said.
He added that he hoped that his assurance would put the matter to rest.
Najib said this during a luncheon involving 1,000 people in Rawang.
For several years, national utility TNB had been trying to install electrical pylons through the village and has been encountering fierce resistance.
The Pakatan Rakyat-administered Selangor government has tried many times to mediate between villagers and TNB, which is under the control of the federal government.

In January, Selayang PKR MP William Leong announced that the Selangor government has reached a consensus with TNB, which will see the project taking an alternative route, thus avoiding a village whose residents have long been objecting to the project.
However last month TNB vice-president (transmission) Rozimi Remeli was quoted by Umno-linked Berita Harian claiming that the state government is still preventing TNB from proceeding with the construction of a one-kilometre high-tension cable in Rawang.
