BN wants change too, says Najib

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak told the people in Pekan that “changing the quality of one’s life was more important than changing the government”

PEKAN: Barisan Nasional chairman Najib Tun Razak told Felda settlers here that the ruling coalition was as eager for change as Pakatan Rakyat — but the change BN was seeking was from within.

The caretaker prime minister, who is defending his seat here, said Felda had successfully changed itself from within, and this was proof that the BN-lead government could do the same.

“We in BN also want change. But the difference between us and the opposition is that we want change from within.

“The government has proven through Felda that changes from within is possible,” he told some 2,000 settlers at the launching of theSentuhan Kasih programme here.

He pointed out that under BN, Felda had changed its image into a commercial body able to produce and export a variety of goods to foreign countries.

“So changing the government is not important, what is important is changing our quality of life for the better,” stressed Najib, to cheers from the crowd.

He urged the settlers, who are seen as a key vote-bank for BN, to continue  placing their trust in the ruling coalition, especially as “the other side is useless”.

Lashing out at the opposition coalition, Najib said: “Even the night before nominations, they were fighting.

“In some constituencies, PAS fielded a candidate, and so did PKR. They call themselves Pakatan Rakyat  but they are not even berpakat(united),” sneered Najib, adding that “in Pakatan Rakyat, their pakatan (coalition) is destroyed. And they haven’t even begun running the government.”

Najib said that without “one alliance, one goal, one philosophy”, the country would be destroyed.

“Trust me, you cannot put your trust in them (Pakatan Rakyat) as they have done nothing to convince us they can be trusted,” he told the audience.
