'Curi curi' Malaysia no more: "Relaxed" Yen Yen says being dropped from GE13 is what she wants!
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said today that she is “very relaxed” about not being fielded in Election 2013.
The MCA vice-president was dropped from the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate list for the Raub parliamentary seat in Pahang despite serving the constituency for three terms.
“I’m very relaxed,” Dr Ng told reporters at the MCA headquarters here.
“This is what I want,” she added.
Replaced by Ho
Chinese daily Nanyang Siang Pau reported earlier this month that Raub MCA would likely be fielding Bilut state assemblyman Datuk Ho Khai Mun in Raub.
Ho, a senior Pahang state exco member who has been in politics for almost 20 years, will be contesting against the DAP’s Datuk Mohd Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz for the seat in the 13th general election.
Mohd Ariff was formerly a one-term Barisan Nasional (BN) state assemblyman in Pulau Manis, Pahang, and blogs under the name “Sakmongkol AK47”.
Dr Ng had previously beaten DAP candidates in Raub, winning with a whopping 9,822-vote majority in the 2004 general election.
But her majority was slashed to 2,752 votes in the historic Election 2008 that saw the MCA winning just 15 of the 40 parliamentary seats it contested.
Raub residents have protested over the use of cyanide in gold mining activities there, saying that they are exposed to unacceptable levels of the chemical, with their health concerns likely to be a key campaign issue by Pakatan Rakyat (PR).
