JAWI lodges police report against Husam

PUTRAJAYA, April 26 — The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) will take action against PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa who made an allegedly defamatory statement about the department on Facebook.

JAWI director and Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council secretary Datuk Che Mat Che Ali claimed that Husam posted a statement on Facebook 125 Putrajaya alleging that JAWI had fired the committee members of the Abdul Rahman Auf surau at Presint 11 recently after they allowed him to mingle with the congregation after prayers. 

Che Mat denied the allegation explaining that the committee was not even appointed by the Council and added that the department would be suing the PAS vice-president as well. 

At a press conference here today he said that all suraus should obey the Mosque/Surau 2011 circular which states that the Council has the power to take legal action against anyone who used the places of worship for their individual or political interests. — Bernama
