KLUANG — Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has described allegations that he and his wife were aristocrats who did not mingle with Semberong parliamentary constituents as being borne out of sheer ignorance.
The home minister said the party, which hurled such an allegation against him and his wife, Tengku Marsilla Tengku Abdullah, was completely out of sync with the real situation on the ground.
“I say, the allegation is a shot in the dark as they (the party) do not know how close my wife and I are to the people in Semberong. Only Semberong residents know and are aware,” he said today.
He was speaking at a goodwill session with the residents of Kampung Melayu Batu Empat, Paloh which was also attended by Barisan Nasional (BN) Paloh state seat candidate, Teo Yap Kun here.
Hishammuddin said he and his wife enjoyed cordial relations with the people in Semberong, like a family.
He said the 13th General Election this time would be different from previous general elections as it would determine if Johor remained a heartland to BN.
He called on voters in the Semberong constituency and in Johor to foil DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang’s efforts to gain a foothold in Johor by “sending the rocket to the moon”.
