Najib: BN is ready


He also said that Umno would be revealing its candidates for the general election tomorrow.
KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional chairman Najib Tun Razak said the alliance was ready to face multi-dimensional fights in the 13th general election.
The prime minister noted that the polls would take place against the backdrop of non-conventional settings, given technology advances and the advent of new media such as Twitter.
“The cyberspace will be more important than before and the BN is ready for that,” he told reporters after handing out nomination documents to BN component party chiefs and state chairmen here today.
Acknowleding the challenges ahead, Najib, nonetheless, expressed confidence the BN would be able to communicate their ‘stories’ well to the people, starting with the alliance’s election pledge.
“As you know, our manifesto has gone down well and been received positively by the people,” he said.
The BN’s next challenge was to communicate with its candidate line-up, said Najib, who was equally confident that those picked by the party would be well received by the electorate.
“It will indicate our desire for transformation, combining experience and wisdom to run the government both at the federal and state levels,” he added.
Umno’s list tomorrow
He also said that Umno will announce its list of candidates for the general election tomorrow while the other component parties in the BN beginning today.
Najib said state BN chairmen would hand over the instrument of candidacy to BN candidates in their respective states tomorrow.
He said the selection of candidates had gone through a long and stringent process which involved lots of negoatiations between the component parties and state BN chairmen, besides taking into consideration sentiments and expectations of voters to see changes in the BN line up.
“This list of BN candidates I think is the best we can provide,” he said.
Meanwhile, state BN chairmen when approached were tight-lipped and were only willing to tell reporters that the list of candidates for parliamentary and state seats would be unveiled tomorrow.
