Nurul has to work twice as hard, says dad Anwar

Faced with overwhelming odds in a David vs Goliath fight as she is up against the machinery and resources of a full minister, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim believes his daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar has a tough battle ahead of her.

"Nurul Izzah (must) work doubly hard considering the forces against her," Anwar (right) said at a press conference in Petaling Jaya today.

"With huge funds and government machinery, the Dewan Bandaraya (Kuala Lumpur) fully geared to assist the minister who is personally rich.”

Even so, he believes that his eldest daughter is ready to take up the challenge in defending her seat.

"I think she is being realistic, she is working very hard."

The incumbent Lembah Pantai MP is facing a strong challenge in the form of caretaker Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Raja Nong Chik Zainal Abidin.

However, Nurul is no green horn when it comes to a tough fight as "giant-killer" Nurul won the seat in 2008 by defeating then federal minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil in her maiden electoral appearance.
