PERAK During a visit to Kuala Kangsar, Perak, BN chief Najib Abdul Razak directed his speech at Independent candidates there, saying those who had left Umno will be abandoned by the people.
While not naming anyone, the caretaker prime minister’s words were an obvious reference to former Umno Wanita deputy chief Kamilia Ibrahim (left), who was sackedfrom Umno after she chose to contest as an Independent for the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat.
“Why? Because they know that even if the individual is gone, the party will still be in power, (and) that the struggle can be continue.
“It has been proven in our history, that those who left the party, the people will abandon him as well,” he said.
Najib once again cited Umno founder Onn Jaafar to drive home his point, saying the rakyat had rejected Onn’s Parti Negara which the latter had formed when leaving Umno in the 1950s.
Najib had used the same example during his speech in Kuala Penyu, Sabah, three days ago when issuing the similar message to Beaufort incumbent MP Lajim Ukin, who had left Umno to become a Pakatan-friendly politican.
