Teoh Lee Lan, three activists held in Bidor

Teoh Beng Hock’s sister Lee Lan and three other activists have been taken to a police station in Bidor, Perak, after distributing leaflets calling for a change of government, as well as justice for the DAP political aide who had died in custody four years ago.
NONE‘Malaysians for Beng Hock’ coordinator Ng Yap Hwa (right), who was among those detained, said the group had come across five plainclothes personnel who were sitting in two parked vehicles, one of these without the police logo.
"We asked if we were being arrested, but they refused to say anything. They asked us to co-operate and follow them to the police station for investigations," said Ng.
Since the police took away their MyKad, they had no choice but to go to the station, he said.
As at 1.45pm, the police were still recording Lee Lan's statement, with the other three waiting their turn.
Ng said he believes the probe is being conducted under the Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA), but that this has not been confirmed by the police.
"DAP state assemblyperson A Sivanesan contacted a local Special Branch officer when he learnt about this,” Ng said.
“He was told that we are being investigated under the PPPA because the leaflet does not carry the printer's details."
However, Ng said he suspects the police action was prompted by the fact that one member of the group was wearing Bersih t-shirt.
