The future they talk about is already here....

This is a video ad that was paid for by Pakatan Rakyat through tweetcaster.

To be honest, the video was well directed and has a good score.

But in terms of thought given to the storyboard, practically zero.

Why do I say so?

Lets start from the beginning -
1. 'Adam Shafiq' earns RM2,200.00 -
a.If Adam wanted, he could do this - get access to financing to better his qualification, which is readily available.
b.If Adam wanted, he could have gone to this event to get a better paid job
c.If Adam really wanted, he would have known that there are ample access for this kind of help
( I suspect Adam is one of the many thousands of Malaysians who WAIT FOR HELP to get to them rather than to help themselves)
2.'Adam' has no hope of marriage
This is rather insulting, because the directors and the patrons of this propaganda obviously do not know that marriage stems from love between two individuals and that weddings though costing quite a bid do have options available to couples. With this statement they are insinuating that the many hawkers or even factory operators WILL NEVER attain the happiness of union through marriage because of money!
(by the way, I do feel that they could be right, because if PAS were to give their opinion, we will never see unmarried young couples ever again!)

They call this 'reality of life' under the BN government. And their answer?
-Remove monopoly to give healthy competition so that prices of goods are reduced(Parliament of Malaysia approved two bills, the Competition Commission Bill 2010 and the Competition Bill 2010 for the exact reason) - yet as members of the opposition when that Bill was passed, Pakatan INSIST that no such law exist!
-The video shows Adam riding a much improved LRT and Bus transportation system 'in the better future under Pakatan'. The MRT is being built and the bus system revamped to have suburban hubs serving city routes. Surely if it is being built now, KL will have the best available in the future, yes?
-The video shows the 'removal' of tolls - This is absurd, as by doing so, the rest of us Malaysians living in the cities and towns which do not have this extensive network of roads in KL will be made to pay for it through our taxes. Is this fair use of the country's resources? Toll roads have non-tolled options. This is existing, so for those who do not want to pay tolls, use the other option!
-'Adam' as portrayed by this PR Video is typical of the younger generation who want access to good things without working for it (I don't say all, but it seems that the younger ones supporting Pakatan want free this and that).
-See the single story house? That's in Bangsar. Can RM2,200 sustain the rent? Of course not!
-See the Inspira? Its not exactly entry level vehicle, is it? But with a better transportation system in store, why does Adam want a car that soon then? He should save like those of us who did before owning our first car.
(My first car was shared between the family - a second hand tendered vehicle Nissan Sunny which used to belong to a hawker)
-Affordable housing? Have you been sleeping? What is this called then

I think, both BN and PR have their good points, however I cannot help but feel that everything that BN has come up with PR says that they will do it better.

Whatever happens, May 5th 2013 will see how Malaysians who are registered voters will decide on who they want to lead the country.

In the meantime, perhaps those who continue to believe the many stories over cyeberspace should have an open mind on what they read and research as much as possible in order not to be blindsighted.
