YES, IT'S BAD! Look BN's track record - Najib
KOTA KINABALU- PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday appealed to the Chinese community to look at the changes brought by Barisan Nasional and the inclusiveness of the government whenever the opposition tried to seduce them with empty promises of change.
Speaking to members of 134 Chinese associations under the Federation of Chinese Associations of Sabah (FCAS), Najib detailed BN's track record over the last four years, since he helmed the government.
He told the crowd that it was because of BN's solid governance that Malaysia registered a 5.6 per cent economic growth in a difficult global economy that affected even the strongest of nations.
Foreign investment, too, said Najib, was at an all-time high in the three years of the Economic Transformation Programme's implementation.
Bursa Malaysia, he said, had generated some RM446 billion over the same period.
"With all these changes, performance and high percentages recorded, we need to ask: what change are they talking about? Change has been and will continue to take place.
"That is what the BN government has been doing," he said, adding that the government never neglected Chinese and mission schools with hundreds of millions of ringgit allocated to them.
This, he said, was aside from special requests made through their community leaders.
To the more than 2,000 members who attended the dinner to honour security forces involved in Ops Daulat, Najib, who was guest of honour, said he had revamped the government delivery system.
"We executed a road map that is clear. One that is aimed at turning Malaysia into an advanced and high-income nation.
"We also gave latitude and space to protect human rights and social justice. As your prime minister, I have tried to deliver the most comprehensive reforms and changes that the country has seen, based on the premise that the days of 'government knows best' are over."
Najib said BN's plans for the nation went beyond the 13th General Election, which he said would determine the country's destiny
"The BN government will stand by you. I am not sure about the other side, but I give you my word. This is an inclusive government that is willing to change and transform."
Najib later presented the Pingat Kedaulatan Negara to nine members of the security forces.
FCAS also contributed RM1 million to the Tabung Wira Negara Lahad Datu while the state government presented RM500,000 to SJK(C) Chi Hwa.
