GETTING RID OF NAJIB & ROSMAH NOW THE TOP PRIORITY IN UMNO: Warlords look to Dr M for prescription

GETTING RID OF NAJIB & ROSMAH NOW THE TOP PRIORITY IN UMNO: Warlords look to Dr M for prescription
Malaysia’s paramount political party, the United Malay National Organization or UMNO, is now facing its stiffest test of survival, and there is great dissension and disagreement among members who want to turn or change their stance of “Ketuanan Melayu” or Malay supremacy into a more realistic “Perjuangan Melayu” or Malay struggle.
Success for a nation is always a struggle. Just study Lee Kuan Yew and Singapore’s struggle for success and anyone will realize and understand why UMNO is now beginning to implode as factions arise within the party in the greedy and unrealistic grab for power which they believe is theirs for which there is no need to contend or struggle for like in other countries around the world.
The misplaced belief of the UMNO Malays is that the power to govern is their birthright and no one else has a right to it in this country. But the winds of change are blowing in the cross currents of globalization and UMNO members realize now that they cannot take their hold on power for granted anymore.
The Malays who are independent of government handouts and favoritism had the foresight to realize not to trust Malay leaders and politicians for their survival and well-being but to chart their own course in life. But unfortunately for UMNO Malays and other Malays that rely heavily on the BN (Barisan Nasional) government the 1MDB fiasco has unmasked the real truth about power politics in this country.
The Najib-Mahathir power tussle
The implosion within UMNO has been caused by the tussle for power between Najib and Mahathir but for a long time now there were time bombs ticking away in UMNO to suggest that this is now the climax of a titanic grab for power that is the root cause of disunity within the Malay community who have long mostly aligned themselves with UMNO.
But the Malays are currently showing their loyalty in a tripartite fashion as they are divided by subscribing to UMNO, Parti PAS and PKR. While UMNO members right now are divided and forced to choose between the Najib camp and the Mahathir camp, Malays as a whole also have their political loyalties to the parties of the opposition coalition such as Parti PAS and PKR.
For the first time in the history of this country, Malays have never been more divided and in disarray and confused and it does not help that Malays leaders are now beginning to bicker and back-bite eroding the base and support for Malay power. It is in the light of these developments that Malay authority and the Malay economy have become severely compromised.
1MDB fiasco the game changer
It is actually the master tactician Mahathir Mohammad who is fully aware and has deep insight into the danger that now lurks over the Malay stronghold on power and this is why he wants to depose Najib from being the prime minister as soon as possible in a bid to reassert Malay power and protect the community.
But Najib is facing the turmoil of having to grapple with not only the sweeping changes and transformation of globalization but, at the same time, he has to adhere to the tenets and obligations of democracy. This is why he is in a dilemma as he does not possess the leadership qualities and skills to balance the equation of power in this country.
Mahathir, from what he states about 1MDB and all the failings of Najib as a leader, is fully aware and realizes that Najib and Rosmah are a deadly and evil combination who are set to go about destroying whatever he has achieved and accomplished for this country and in the process destroy completely his legacy which he has carefully cultivated for posterity’s sake.
Not only that, Mahathir realizes that Malaysia is already being viewed by the international community as a rogue nation and it won’t be long, given the distressing state of Najib’s governance of the country, before Malaysia becomes a failed stated. Already there are indications by Malaysia watchers that the country is beginning to regress badly.
Resolving the situation
Malays still appear to need assistance and aid from the government although affirmative action for them is unfair to the non-bumi’s. But the most important agenda right now is to resolve the weak governance of the country as the present crop of leaders have failed to live up to expectations and this is why Mahathir must go all out with his plans to bring about sweeping changes in the country.
There is a huge groundswell of support for Mahathir and hordes are supporting him although this is not highlighted by the government controlled media. But through the alternative media and social media, Mahathir is gaining ground while Najib has painted himself into a corner and is losing support even from within his power base of UMNO.
This is why to save the Malays and for the future and well-being of this country, Mahathir needs to pull out all the stops and explore every avenue available to him to remove the destructive leadership and influence of Najib on Malaysians and carve a path for a more pragmatic government to lead this country.
Unlikely as it might seem, should Mahathir fail in his endeavor to topple the Najib government, it is a certain and sure bet that it will only be a matter of time before Malaysia becomes a backwater country when it holds all the potential and promise to become a Great Nation.
It looks like the aging Mahathir has been endorsed with the task of still seeing that Malaysia is steering in the right direction. - Malaysia Chronicle
