Malaysians find a CHAMPION in Johor Crown Prince as Najib turns Umno into MOST HATED PARTY
The Culture and Tourism has certainly landed himself in a tight and sticky corner with his obstinate and tantrum-like lash-back rebuttals against the Crown Prince of Johor. His failure to identify with the crux of the matter is another sad loss for the cabinet team and its leadership.
The issue surrounding 1MDB is not about whether there was ‘nothing’ to hide, or ‘everything to hide’ or even ‘Something’ to hide. The issue is about the hiding.
When information is deliberately distorted or colored to suit going-concerns; when information is timed in installments to support some agendas; when information does not address the questions – the public say there is a trail of attempts to hide.
That is what everyone in the country is upset about! Why have you entrenched this perception to build to this point? Do you not realize that you are in that disadvantage corner of the ring of damage control?
Whether he dislikes it or denies it the Honorable Minister must accept the fact that in the arena of public opinion he has lost the fight, and lost it real bad in this case against the Royal Crown Prince.
Thanks to the on-line news portals’ lead time advantage in reporting and quoting direct speech (which the government unfortunately repeatedly reminds we must not believe so easily), netizens are able to register their approvals and anger instantaneously on the world wide web and social media.
Arrogance of Umno's bigwigs no longer tolerable
In this instance, it is very painfully obvious that Nazri is not willing to take the over-drive of honest feedback and advice offered by netizens. He appears to be obviously inclined to accepting an alternative source of feedback going by his counter attack-mode rebuttals coming hot on the heels of the royalty’s honest to God advice and reprimands.
And Najib’s silence on his lieutenant’s outburst is equally chipping away whatever saving grace that is left for his embattled leadership.
The Minister can shout out aloud behind the seemingly armored claim that Malays Rulers should stay out of politics. But he fails to recognize the thin line that separates politics and governance.
For as long as Malaysia has its Malay Rulers, the subjects will never fail to fall behind and stand up for their ruler. And this symbiotic relationship cannot be severed even by athe sharpest blade of politics and or its party machinery. This Nazri must understand.
Even if tomorrow, so to speak, Umno won hands down at the polling station, when it comes to citizens (subjects) and rulers, the political party takes the back row seat.
You can even curtail the rulers powers through amendments of the Constitution, but that is still subservient to the fcat that Malaysians will stand up for their rulers ultimately. That is why the Bristish were wise enough to keep our blend of Rulers and subjects intact.
Najib has made Umno the most hated party: Malaysians looking for a champion to take them out of the Umno trap
This even Tun Dr Mahathir failed to understand. And therefore it is no surprise that Nazri is shooting through his teeth while his boss maintains absolute silence as if condescending the foolish antics of his lieutenant.
Politics does not enjoy a cocooned premium as long as Malaysia is a confederation of States headed by Malay Royal Rulers and we are a Constitutional Monarchy. Our Rulers will have to by moral obligation and duty and tradition step up the heat when their subjects buckle under abrasive and oppressive politicking and self-serving political agendas.
And let Nazri be advised further. Do not think that the Malaysian-style (Umno to be more accurate) political strategy of trying to run your critic down by attempting to look for dirty linen and have them washed in public will be your salvation.
You would be terribly mistaken if you go that way. Your entire colleagues will then distance themselves from you like a leper.
Hope Nazri gets to read this Letter and the netizens’ comments too. - MAILBAG
