Mongolian shooting victim was with Sibu ‘Datuk’, says report

A Mongolian woman who was critically injured after she was shot four times by two men at Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, on Monday evening, was believed to have been with a Datuk from Sibu during the incident.
The victim was in a Toyota Land Cruiser with the man before the two assailants on a motorcycle approached their vehicle, which was parked by the roadside.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azmi Abu Kassim said one of the men pulled out a gun and fired eight shots through the vehicle's window at the woman who was in the passenger seat.
A motorist who witnessed the incident, which occurred about 5.45pm, probably saved the woman's life when he rammed his car into the two assailants who fell off their motorcyle but managed to get up and rode off, the daily reported.
"The suspects fled after the shooting. The woman's companion was not harmed and immediately called the police," Azmi told reporters at the scene.
The Star reported that the driver of the Toyota Land Crusier was a 35-year-old Sibu businessman. He was talking on the phone when the assailants started shooting.
Azmi said the victim was rushed to the KPJ Damansara Hospital but was later transferred to University Malaya Medical Centre.
He confirmed that the assailants used a semi-automatic 9mm caliber pistol.
The woman is now in intensive care unit of University Malaya Medical Centre and reported to be in stable condition.
"Early investigations found that the motive was revenge and the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder," Bernama quoted Azmi as saying.
