Silencing the truth – Nur Adilah Ramli

A glimpse of local news today highlights two grand issues; first is the 5.9 Richter scale earthquake in Sabah, and second is about Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad being stopped from speaking at an event which was also supposed to be graced by the current premier, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The former is a natural disaster, the latter is, also a disaster, but a man-made one. Heartfelt prayers are with the victims of both catastrophes.
Fairly recently, we heard about Pandan MP, Rafizi Ramli, being snatched of microphone while talking about GST to a gallery of students in a public university.
Well, to begin with, fellow Malaysians have had enough of the similar kind of troll that it is not funny anymore.
Dr Mahathir, having the loudest voice, is tried to be silenced, and now that it is happening, Malaysians are starting to make their voices heard. We have seen obedient Malaysians, but brace yourself, we are about to witness the rise of rebels.
I have always thought that such a rise would only get to be depicted in the silver screen like Hunger Games where the oppressed stand up against the authorities amidst brutal persecution.
Driven by sheer determination to put an end to oppression, the District 12 “rebels” are no longer feared by death, because for all they know, it is no point to live a life as good as dead.
Back to Malaysia, the fact that the authority aggressively restricts forums pertaining to 1MDB and other government policies somewhat paints a picture that there is indeed something amiss.
In a way, it directly confirms the allegations filed against the government. If the government is really not guilty, then they should front the public and prove their innocence using evidence and not mere rhetoric.
As I ask myself, "What is going to be the fate of Malaysia?" I just can afford to extend my prayers to God.
We are under the watchful eyes of watchdogs, and yet, we keep on creating mistake after mistake.
One more misstep might sink our country to the bottom, and that must not be let to happen.
We are now highly indebted, and though the common Malaysians might not be as sharp as the national planners, we know that something is really not right.
The moment government decided to grossly tax our most rudimentary needs, we just knew that our economy is ill.
Our money has been used up that we just had to opt for loan sharks because apparently, we are not fit to get loans from lawful banks.
But we are said to be ungrateful when the fact is, we just want to know where did our money flow to.
We were heartbroken upon knowing that our money in KWSP and Tabung Haji was allegedly used to bail out 1MDB. Are we still ineligible to know about the goings on in 1MDB even when they rake in our money?
Nevertheless, we really hope that the allegations about 1MDB are only false alarm. No one in the right mind would like to see their country in jeopardy.
Hence, we really hope that the news about 42 billions of loss is only the voice of the devil.
But please, do not delay the case any further, because we are starting to lose hope in the government whom we always regard as our guardians.
Please face the reality and live in it, dear government. If the allegations are valid, then step forward to entangle the conflicts.
This plea might pass unnoticed, but I have always believed that The All-Hearing and All-Seeing is paying close attention to our appeal.
Step forward to clear up the mess, and step down to make way for new line-up. – June 5, 2015.
