Nazri: WSJ report proves 1MDB funds not lost

SRMan: Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz, you don't seem to understand what the recent Wall Street Journal's (WSJ) report on 1MDB was all about.

It simply means that 1MDB dubiously paid above market price for a power asset. The seller in turn did a 'good deed' by donating back a part of the fat bonus to a charity chaired by PM Najib Razak, who then used the funds to bankroll GE13.

Your reasoning such as "if the report carried by WSJ is proven true, then it is good, as it shows the money was not lost," does not gel at all.

And your following statement of "what's wrong with (Finance Ministry wholly-owned 1MDB's) money being spent on the people?" is a shot in the foot.

Aren't you telling the whole world that BN has committed an election offence?

Hello: So Nazri is stating that WSJ's report is true.

He is also alluding that stealing from the coffers of the country is alright (as in inflated pricing of purchase of power-generating companies and then siphoning the excess money to a personal foundation); cooking the books and all sorts of manipulations to distract the people of all these slight of hands; obfuscating and not offering precise clear-cut explanations whenever asked, whether by the media or in Parliament.

Legit: This confirms Malaysians' fear even further. The country is run by a bunch of crackpots like Nazri who does not understand the meaning of ‘abuse of power’.

Misusing peoples' money to win elections and gaining power is against the law. Doesn't he understand that?

Nazri, tell your ‘Everything to Hide’ boss that he cannot fool the rakyat any longer.

Oh Ya?: Look at it positively - Nazri is helping former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the opposition to topple Najib.

First, he confirmed Najib and his family are rich and are living a lavish style. Since he did not explain how they amassed the wealth, it may add credence to Mahathir's allegations of impropriety.

And now he is confirming poll reform group Bersih's and the opposition's allegations that 1MDB's fund was used to bankroll GE13.

That would incriminate Najib for misappropriating 1MDB fund, committing election offences and perhaps even money laundering too. Indeed, how could a sovereign investment fund be used to bankroll an election?

Mob1900: Wow, Nazri totally missed the entire mark.

WSJ is proving Najib misused and abused 1MDB funds to finance the previous GE13 illegally and here he goes on saying there is still some money left from it.

He is in a way confirming all the wrongs Najib had done.

Justine Gow: This is the most stupid and desperate spin I have ever come across. The money is still missing because 1MDB has not given a clear answer on where it is.

Some of it is missing in the pockets of some citizens in the form of bribes for votes, if the WSJ report is true.

Lukesky: Nazri cannot be this dumb even for a Umno minister. He is openly supporting corruption, first in the overpriced acquisition of the energy plants by 1MDB from Genting and then for some of those funds to be diverted to PM's so-called charity to be used for the 13th general election.

Nazri, I thought you are just an incompetent apple polisher, but it appears that you are also a glorified idiot.

Opah: 1MDB paid RM2.3 billion for Genting's power plant, which was worth perhaps RM500 million. In return, Genting gave Najib's charity RM31 million.

That means RM1.769 billion went into the pockets of Genting's shareholders - who can hardly be called ‘the people’ - without much effort at all.

Which part of the deal does Nazri (and Umno's ‘bangang’ bloggers) not understand?

Sirach: The more Nazri opens his mouth, the more garbage he spews. This is a man who has lost all sense of right and wrong.

The moral compass of this lot of politicians is so warped that they can rationalise any and all wrongdoing.

Anonymous_4056: Nazri, don't be silly. While only part of the fund was used for the general election, that in itself was an abuse of 1MDB’s money.

How the fund ends up in being used in the general election is a kickback from the hugely overpriced cost of purchase of the power plant from Genting. This is illegal.

Unspin: Najib must have figuratively put a gun to Nazri’s head for him to come out with stupid statements after stupid statements.

Presumably he has to say something to defend his boss, regardless of how ridiculous it sounds. -Mkini
