Teenager threatened to spread pictures and a video of the girl.
KUALA LUMPUR: A 13-year-old boy was detained for threatening to spread obscene pictures and a video of a girl his age in a social networking site.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Azmi Abu Kassim said the boy was arrested at 6.35pm Sunday following a police report lodged by a teenage girl on Friday (July 3).
He said the girl, who was a Form One student at a private school in Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya, had befriended the boy via the social networking site WeChat in March.
“Since then the victim continued to be in touch with the victim via WeChat and WhatsApp. In May, the suspect had compelled the victim to send him obscene images of herself.
In mid-June, the suspect once again forced the victim to send obscene videos but when the victim no longer contacted him or entertained him after the incident, the suspect threatened to spread the pictures and video (posted earlier) on the social networking site,” Azmi said in a statement yesterday.
Worried about her safety, the girl lodged a police report.
Acting on the report, police arrested the male student in the compound of the Sepang district police headquarters, he said, adding that the suspect would be remanded for three days.
Police also seized two mobile phones and a laptop from the suspect.
