PUTRAJAYA: A fourth company director has been arrested and held in custody in a corruption investigation related to financial dealings of the government investment company 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
The company director, believed to be aged 48, and holder of a ‘Datukship’, was brought to the magistrate’s court here for a remand hearing this morning.
Prosecutors of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission requested a seven-day remand order, but the court allowed four.
He is one of two people still in MACC custody. The other is a trading company owner that was arrested on Thursday and held in remand for four days.
Two directors of different construction companies have been released on RM100,000 bail each after being held in remand.
The businessmen are being questioned in relation to the activities of their companies, which have been named in reports by The Edge and the Wall Street Journal exposing the financial dealings of 1MDB and a trail of transactions involving billions.
