Minister: Long-missing original plaque for Keningau monument belongs in museum or archives
KOTA KINABALU: The finders of the long-missing original plaque affixed to the Oath Stone in Keningau have been urged to surrender it to the museum or archives.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Joseph Kurup advised anyone in possession of the missing plaque to return it to the relevant agency as it is the property of the government.
“We have been looking for the missing original plaque for a long time and I am happy if it has really been found. But it is the property of the government.
“We ask for the finder’s cooperation to hand it over to the museum or archives for safekeeping,” he told reporters here on Saturday.
Reports have circulated online about the recovery of the original plaque by State Reform Party president Jeffrey Kitingan.
He said the plaque was a heritage item and its disappearance had remained a mystery.
